| Tallinn entrance
The entrance to the old city in Tallinn, Estonia makes a very baroque impression on the person entering these gates. The two modest medieval round towers at the edge of the Birumagi Hillock mark what once was the entrance through city walls. |

| Tallinn old city hall
The old town hall of Tallinn, Estonia dates largely from 1401 to 1404. It is still topped with an ancient weather vane (common in Tallinn) that was made for the spire in 1530. The appearance of the building is somewhat fortresslike, reflecting its role as a place of protection in times of strife, but there is nowadays an element of humor in the 17-century neck chains which still dangle outside of the hall. |
